Local growers, manufacturers and craftspeople need all our support as Australia’s COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold. Admittedly, we have learnt our supply chains (value chains) have been at risk. It has caused many unnecessary hardships because there was a lack of Aussie Made products.
Local purchasing is a preference to buy locally produced goods and services over those produced in other countries. The aim is to encourage consumers to exercise their preference for buying Australian and promoting Australian products in Australia and around the world. It is what creates new businesses and jobs.
Without a doubt, Australian’s today need to source food directly from our local farmers and orchardists. There is a need to support small and local businesses. Helping at a grassroots (consumer) level to rebuild and redevelop our communities which are feeling increasingly fragmented.
Everyone is frustrated, but don’t let it define your narrative and reactions. Australia will have a tough time in the recovery, and it needs all the help it can get. In particular, from leadership and consumer perspectives, there’s much to be learned about both.
Unfortunately, not everyone cares about the fact they are the ones who employ our locals and feed and sustain us.
Aussie made logos,
The Australian Made and Australian Grown trademark logos signify products whose ingredients or production mostly originate from Australia. The logos use one of the following phrases, Australian Grown, Australian Made or Product of Australia.
We can all make a positive impact on Australian industry by shopping locally. Seeking out products which carry the trusted Australian Made, Australian Grown logos, in-store and online. There’s never been a more important time to champion our Australian farmers and manufacturers.
Calls to boycott Chinese products aren’t the answer to COVID19 pandemic either. You might not agree with large foreign corporations from any country investing heavily in Australian industry. However, foreign ownership has the potential to ruin our employment opportunities and potentially undermine our economy and its essential services.
If consumers are angry at the Chinese government over the COVID-19 pandemic and don’t want to support their economy, it’s a personal decision. Don’t travel there or bolster tourism. I recognise it is something the government should more consciously regulate. Lobby the Australian government to stop selling off our industries to any foreign investors.
Your success online depends on attracting people who want and can afford your products and solutions. They need motivating to open a channel of communication with you.
