Serioius about planning?

Behaviour is a key to serious planning outcomes.

Serious planning requires positive behaviour. This begins by building a team of key individuals and stakeholders most involved with the organisation. Team members collaborate in multiple ways to develop, implement, and monitor the plans and their outcomes.

When you stop chasing the wrong things, you give the right things a chance to shine. To shape the future you want, you have to be willing and able to change your current situation by doing some serious planning. This requires more attention to strategic planning than operational planning.

Proper planning will prevent poor performance. The collaborative process includes the following steps:

  1. Who are the key stakeholders and individuals involved in the planning process?
  2. What must you do to make this a successful collaborative experience for them?
  3. How are you going to promote the active participation of the team members?

Perhaps the One-Page Business Plan is your answer.

Planning to do a Business Plan is not planning. The planning process and the resulting actions drive the outcomes you want; thinking about it prolongs the struggle. For some, preparing a one-page business plan is an excellent place to start planning. It can be done quickly and easily upgraded as you move forward with the motivation from the process, just what you need.

Operational planning fits all the pieces of the business together.

Serious planning helps to fit all the pieces of your business together, enabling it to run smoothly and achieve your goals. A flat tyre on a car, not to mention missing a wheel, can be a very rough ride. Having your business Investor-Ready could be your answer to stopping your struggle once and for all.

Does serious planning work?

The best way to measure a business plan’s effectiveness is by the decisions it causes and the outcomes it creates. Back in 1953, Yale University surveyed its graduating class and discovered that only 3% had written goals.  Twenty years later, Yale surveyed this same class and learned that the 3% who had written goals had amassed a net worth more significant than the other 97% combined.  The moral of the story:

  1. Goal setting and planning work.
  2. Hardly anyone uses the technique.
  3. Wishes are goals with snap, crackle and pop.

Quotable quotes.

“Serious planning is too hard to do by yourself”. Peter Sergeant

“Someone is sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago”. Warren Buffett
